Frequently Asked Questions

What is Belzona 1212 used for?

Belzona 1212 is a 2-part epoxy paste designed for repair and rebuilding of damp, wet, oil-contaminated, and underwater surfaces. It is commonly used on pipework, tank walls, ship hulls, splash zones, and other surfaces where surface preparation and complete drying are not feasible.

Can Belzona 1212 be applied underwater?

Yes. Belzona 1212 is specifically formulated to displace water and bond to wet, oily, and submerged surfaces. It cures in immersion conditions, making it ideal for emergency repairs on offshore, marine, and water-handling equipment without dewatering.

What surface preparation is needed for Belzona 1212?

Belzona 1212 is surface tolerant and accepts minimal preparation compared to conventional epoxies. Mechanical roughening, grit blasting, or thorough wire brushing of the substrate is recommended where possible. Loose corrosion, scale, and heavy grease should be removed prior to application.
