What tends to go wrong
  • Flat-roof membrane failure at seams, penetrations, and roof drains.
  • Metal-roof corrosion at fastener heads, panel laps, and ridge details.
  • Gutter and parapet leakage at coping joints and downspout connections.
  • Skylight and roof-curb perimeter leakage.
  • Ponded-water damage at low spots and behind blocked drains.
  • Coating UV degradation on older field-applied roof systems.
How Belzona helps

The Gulf South reroofing window

On a Louisiana industrial site, the practical roof-work window is the dry stretch of summer between the spring rain band and the start of the hurricane season. The roof has to be prepared, coated, and cured before the next storm cycle. Belzona's cold-applied roof systems are sized to that calendar.

Belzona product families used on roofs

Continuous-film waterproofing

Belzona 3111 (Flexible Membrane), Belzona 3121 (MR7), and the wider 3000-series cover liquid-applied roof and gutter waterproofing. They lay down a continuous, seamless film over flat roofs, parapets, and metal-roof seams, and they cure cold without a torch or hot kettle on the roof.

Metal-roof and gutter detail

Metal-roof fastener heads, panel laps, and gutter joints are sealed with the same 3000-series elastomeric system; the field of the metal panel takes a compatible topcoat where UV protection is the priority. Penetration details around skylights, vents, and HVAC curbs are tied into the field membrane with reinforcement scrim.

Substrate repair on aged metal and concrete roofs

For roofs where the metal panel has lost wall thickness or the concrete deck has spalled, the substrate repair runs first (Belzona 1111 or 1311 on metal, 4111 / 4131 on concrete) and then the elastomeric waterproof system over the top.

Hot-work avoidance

Cold-applied liquid-membrane systems remove the hot-work permit from a roof scope. On occupied industrial buildings, that materially shortens the permit chain and reduces the risk profile of the work. Belzona Baton Rouge documents the cold-application status in the project file so the safety record reads cleanly.
