Fans, Blowers & Compressors

Leading-edge erosion on fan and blower blades, particulate wear in housings, and casing corrosion drive the maintenance scope on rotating air-moving equipment. Belzona's metal-rebuild and low-friction coating systems restore aerodynamic profile and recover the flow performance the asset has lost since the last overhaul.

Fans, Blowers & Compressors — Belzona application

Our approach

Cold-applied, in place

Repairs and protective coatings applied on-site with no hot work and, in most cases, no shutdown.

Supplied + applied

We supply the Belzona system and our in-house crews apply it — or supply only. Your call.

24-hour support

Emergency response across Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Lafayette, and Lake Charles.

What tends to go wrong
  • Leading-edge erosion on centrifugal and axial fan blades from particulate-laden air.
  • Blade-tip wear from contact and fines impingement.
  • Blower-housing wall thinning from solids carryover.
  • Compressor-casing corrosion in saturated-air and process-air service.
  • Inlet-guide-vane and diffuser wear.
  • Bearing-housing corrosion from condensate and washdown.
How Belzona helps

Performance loss before mechanical failure

Most fans, blowers, and compressors lose flow performance well before they fail mechanically. A leading-edge erosion of one to two millimeters changes the blade aerodynamics enough to drop head and flow significantly. Restoring the blade profile and adding a low-friction surface recovers most of the lost performance.

Belzona product families used on rotating air-movers

Blade leading-edge rebuild

Belzona 1111 (Super Metal) and Belzona 1311 (Ceramic R-Metal) rebuild the leading edge and pressure-face metal loss on centrifugal and axial fan blades. The rebuilt blade is profiled back to the original camber line and accepts a topcoat for ongoing wear protection.

Erosion-resistant topcoat

Belzona 1321 (Ceramic S-Metal) is the long-immersion erosion-resistant topcoat. Belzona 1341 (Supermetalglide) is the low-friction efficiency topcoat used to recover lost flow performance after the blade profile has been restored. The two are not interchangeable: 1321 is for wear life, 1341 is for flow performance.

Housing and casing wall

Blower housings and compressor casings see solids erosion on the inside and atmospheric corrosion on the outside. Belzona 1311 / 1321 covers the inside; Belzona 5811 (Immersion Grade) or an atmospheric-grade coating from the same family handles the outside surface.

Balance and dynamic-clearance

A coating job on a high-speed rotor that does not respect mass balance creates more problems than it solves. Belzona Baton Rouge applies the coating in stages, weighs and balances the rotor before final assembly, and documents the final balance condition with the rebuild file. The applicator is matched to the unit's speed and clearance class.
