Overview of Belzona 4181

Belzona 4181 (Magma-Build Acid Resistant) is a heat- and acid-resistant trowelable system for repair and protection of concrete, stone, and other rigid substrates subject to impact and abrasion. Engineered around an acid-catalysable hybrid resin system incorporating closely packed acid-resistant fillers, the three-component system combines Base, Solidifier, and red Aggregate to form a high-strength trowelable compound.

Designed primarily for horizontal surfaces, Belzona 4181 may be applied on vertical surfaces up to ¼ inch (6 mm) thickness. With outstanding adhesion, hardness, and inorganic acid resistance, plus heat distortion temperatures up to 420°F (216°C) after high-temperature post-cure, the product is ideally suited for the most demanding chemical and thermal environments in industrial floors, drains, and oven foundations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Belzona 4181 (AHR Magma-Quartz) used for?

Belzona 4181 (AHR Magma-Quartz) is a 3-part acid- and heat-resistant epoxy repair mortar specifically designed for the long-term protection of concrete and stonework subjected to severe chemical attack and elevated service temperatures. It is ideal for chemical bunds, secondary containment, and process areas exposed to acids.

What is the mixing ratio of Belzona 4181 (AHR Magma-Quartz)?

The mixing ratio of Belzona 4181 (AHR Magma-Quartz) is 100 : 30 : 10 (Base : Solidifier : Conditioner) by weight, with Belzona 4181 Aggregate added to achieve mortar consistency. Please see the Product Specification Sheet (PSS) for more information.

How do you apply Belzona 4181 (AHR Magma-Quartz)?

To apply Belzona 4181 (AHR Magma-Quartz), the surface must be clean, firm, dry, and free of any paint, tar, and other contaminants. Condition the surface using the supplied Belzona 4181 Conditioner. Mix the Base, Solidifier, and Conditioner thoroughly to achieve a homogeneous resin, then slowly add the Belzona 4181 Aggregate until mortar consistency is achieved. Within 30 minutes at 77°F (25°C), apply onto the conditioned surface using a trowel and tap down firmly to compact and remove entrapped air. Please see the Instructions for Use (IFU) for more information.
