Overview
Cavitation damage on Francis runner outlets, Kaplan blades, and wicket gates concentrates at the low-pressure zone where bubble collapse cycles deposit kinetic energy into the steel surface, leaving the recognizable spongy pitting pattern. Belzona 2141 (ACR-Fluid Elastomer) absorbs the implosion energy as an elastomeric lining; for runners that also carry sediment-laden water, Belzona 1391T adds a high-temperature ceramic-filled layer rated to 248°F (120°C) over the rebuild substrate. Both systems install during the scheduled outage and recommission with the unit, no on-site weld repair or runner removal-to-shop required.
